Call for Papers: 2019 Phi Alpha Theta Louisiana Regional Meeting

The 2019 Regional Meeting for Louisiana Chapters of Phi Alpha Theta, history honor society, will be held in conjunction with the Louisiana Historical Association annual meeting. Chapters will convene in Lafayette at the Garden Plaza Hotel on Friday, March 29, 2019. Epsilon-Xi Chapter of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette will host the meeting and coordinate the program.

Phi Alpha Theta sessions will take place all day Friday. The Phi Alpha Theta luncheon, featuring Dr. Janet Allured as speaker and sponsored by the Guilbeau Center for Public History at UL Lafayette, will be held on Friday at noon. Complete details of the meeting and luncheon will follow. Plans for a Friday afternoon meet-and-greet for all undergraduate and graduate students who attend the conference are also in the works. Please encourage your student participants to come and meet their fellow Phi Alpha Theta members.

Phi Alpha Theta ADVISORS must submit the titles of students’ papers no later than FEBRUARY 25, 2019. Please submit student names, proposed titles, student classification (undergrad or grad), and contact information via email to:

    Dr. Michael S. Martin
Department of History, Geography, and Philosophy
    University of Louisiana at Lafayette
    [email protected]

Phi Alpha Theta ADVISORS should send students’ completed papers and curriculum vitae to the above email no later than MARCH 14, 2019. Any field of historical inquiry is welcome. Please be certain to remind students that papers should be no longer than 10 to 12 double-spaced, typewritten pages in length, which can be read in a maximum of 20-25 minutes. Also, please remind students that it is the author’s responsibility to be present to read his or her paper at the conference or, if unable to attend, to provide someone to do the same. Student presenters are not required to be members of Phi Alpha Theta, and this is an excellent opportunity to recruit quality students into the organization.
